Book Study: Reading Assessment: “Linking Language, Literacy, and Cognition” by Melissa Lee Farrall

In this virtual book study series, Melissa will focus on her text, Reading Assessment: Linking Language, Literacy, and Cognition, an integrated approach to the evaluation of the skills that make reading possible and enjoyable. This text was written to support evaluators and educators in their efforts to learn more about students who struggle with reading. In this discussion, participants will develop a deeper understanding of assessment and how different types of tests can be used to learn about individual strengths and weaknesses. We will explore the theoretical underpinnings of reading, language, and cognition, and we will review the components of a comprehensive reading evaluation.
